Guardians Add Pitching Ace Griffin | Cleveland Guardians News

The Guardians just pulled off a blockbuster trade, acquiring All-Star lefty Foster Griffin from the Nationals right before the deadline — sending four prospects, including Josh Hartle, in return. Griffin, once a first-round bust who thrived overseas in Japan, is now lights-out on the mound with a 12-3 record and a 3.06 ERA, striking out over 100 batters while keeping walks minimal. His nasty cutter and pitch mix have kept hitters guessing, especially during his dominant June-July stretch when he posted an ERA under 2.00. This move bolsters a rotation already carrying the team and signals the Guardians’ serious push for a deep playoff run — adding veteran reliability at a critical time.
