Guardians' Basepath Blunders Cost Them | Cleveland Guardians News

The Guardians crumbled in a 7-1 loss to the Pirates, undone by a parade of basepath blunders that cost them dearly. Gabriel Arias stood out for his missteps — a failed pickoff and an untagged base — but the whole team made four costly outs on the bases over the weekend. Meanwhile, Pirates ace Paul Skenes dominated with seven shutout innings, while Joey Cantillo’s solid outing wasn’t enough to overcome the damage. The Guardians’ July record now sits at 8-6, but their struggles since the All-Star break are mounting — and they’ll need to fix their base running if they hope to bounce back against the Twins starting Monday.
