Guardians Draft Pitching Powerhouse | Cleveland Guardians News

The Guardians made a bold move in the 2026 MLB Draft, starting with a pitching-heavy strategy that landed them top college talent. They selected Liam Peterson, a fiery righty from Florida, with the 19th overall pick — their first first-round pitcher since 2021. They followed up with 17-year-old lefty Logan Schmidt, speedster Tre Broussard, and hitter Kade Lewis, building a roster full of upside. With rounds five through twenty still to come, the Guardians are clearly focused on stockpiling versatile, high-potential players to fuel their farm system for years to come.
