Guardians Draft Pitching Powerhouse | Cleveland Guardians News

The Guardians made waves in the MLB draft by dominating with pitching, selecting 13 arms on Day 2 after snagging Florida’s Liam Peterson first overall. They leaned heavily on college talent—17 of 20 picks from four-year schools—and went big on size, landing three right-handers over 6’7” in a row. With a clear focus on depth on the mound, they returned to familiar schools like Miami and Louisville, added local flavor via a Kent State pitcher raised in Cleveland, and sprinkled in family ties—like a player whose dad played in the majors or whose grandfather starred for the Packers. It’s a draft class built for upside, blending experience with raw talent—and it’s already shaping up to be one of the most intriguing in recent memory.
