Guardians Eye Schmitt for Deadline | Cleveland Guardians News

The Cleveland Guardians are eyeing a power boost before the trade deadline, with San Francisco Giants’ Casey Schmitt emerging as a top target. With 21 homers and 17 doubles this season, Schmitt’s OPS would rank second on the Guardians — and his versatility at multiple positions makes him a perfect fit. A right-handed hitter who crushes lefties, he could instantly elevate Cleveland’s lineup, even stepping into the cleanup spot. Plus, the Giants and Guardians already have a working relationship — thanks to last year’s Patrick Bailey trade — making this deal smoother. Schmitt’s occasional strikeout woes don’t overshadow his elite production. This could be the move Antonetti needs to turn the offense around.
