Guardians Face Hot Padres in Key Series | Cleveland Guardians News

The Guardians face a firecracker Padres team in a crucial three-game series, as San Diego surges with a 15-5 record over their last 20 games and sits second in the NL wild card. Michael King, who’s dominated Cleveland recently (0.75 ERA in two starts), opposes Gavin Williams on Friday. The Guardians, reeling after a brutal stretch and struggling since the All-Star break (59-53), haven’t seen immediate results from their trade deadline additions. With Joey Cantillo and Tanner Bibee pitching the next two days, Cleveland’s arms must rise to halt Machado’s power and a lethal Padres lineup. Both teams have injury concerns, but the Padres’ pitching woes loom larger. After this series, the Guardians head to San Francisco for a pivotal Giants showdown.
