Guardians Move Arias for Genao | Cleveland Guardians News

The Guardians pull the plug on Gabriel Arias, sending him to waivers as part of a bold push to inject offense and youth into the lineup. After a brutal game marred by errors and strikeouts, Arias’s underwhelming bat and defensive limitations made his exit inevitable. The move clears the path for top prospect Angel Genao to step in — likely at third base when José DHs, with second base also in play. While it sidelines a potential defensive option at first, this is about bigger-picture roster optimization. The Guardians are doubling down on their aggressive promotion strategy, hoping young talent like Genao can turn things around — even if results haven’t fully followed yet.
