Guardians' Relievers in Crisis | Cleveland Guardians News

The Guardians’ bullpen is in crisis as they head into the second half, with only four of their 14 relievers under a 3.00 ERA — and Matt Festa’s struggles are a major concern. After a disappointing 4.12 ERA last year and now hovering at 3.99 with a bloated 1.36 WHIP, Festa’s been surrendering hits and runs at an alarming rate — 18 runs in just 40 games, averaging one inning per appearance. With the trade deadline still weeks away, Cleveland’s unlikely to make a splash in the market, but could call up a minor leaguer — though few prospects are ready. If Festa gets DFA’d, Colin Holderman, already a big-league veteran this summer, might step in — but the bullpen’s shaky foundation could be the difference between a title run and another disappointing season.
