Guardians Struggle Against Martinez | Cleveland Guardians News

The Guardians took another crushing 3-0 loss to the Rays, their fourth straight defeat, as their offense went silent with just five hits and one runner past second base. Despite the struggles, pitcher Tanner Bibee kept them in it with six innings, though he admitted he could’ve pitched better. Rays starter Nick Martinez dominated, shutting down the Guardians for six innings with four hits allowed. The Guardians’ offense finally broke down in the fifth, when the Rays scored two runs on key hits and added another in the sixth via a well-placed bunt. With their slump deepening and facing tough pitching, the Guardians look to snap their offensive drought in Sunday’s series finale.
