Guardians Trade Naylor for Defense | Cleveland Guardians News

The Guardians just pulled off a bold move, trading Bo Naylor and Codi Heuer to the Brewers for Craig Yoho and Blake Perkins — signaling a clear shift toward defense-first baseball. Naylor’s offensive upside is out the door, but Cleveland’s new catching duo of Patrick Bailey and Austin Hedges brings elite framing, game-calling, and defensive control — exactly what their pitching staff needs. With a deep farm system behind them, this trade isn’t about losing talent, but strategically unlocking future potential while building a team that wins by managing games, not just swinging bats.
