Guarding the Digital Frontier: A Conversation with Jeffrey Lyon of The Cyber Wild

from Act ASAP · host Daniel Kilburn

In an age where our personal lives, finances, and family safety are wired into the cloud, cybersecurity is no longer a luxury—it’s survival. In this compelling 30-minute conversation, I sit down with Jeffrey Lyon, founder of The Cyber Wild, to uncover what’s really happening in the digital wilderness that surrounds us.Jeffrey doesn’t just talk tech—he humanizes it. From the recent AWS disruption to the rise of AI deepfakes and ransomware, he paints a vivid picture of how every keystroke, email, and click can become a crossroads between safety and exposure. Together, we explore why humans—not machines—remain the weakest link, and how training, awareness, and culture change are our best defenses. What makes this conversation different is its practicality. We don’t just name threats; we break them down into doable steps for families, small businesses, and community organizations. From budget-friendly protection tools and password management habits to IoT safety and phishing detection techniques, Jeffrey delivers insights that every listener—tech-savvy or not—can immediately apply. We also look toward the future: affordable Security Operations Center (SOC) services for small businesses, educational gamification, and Jeffrey’s upcoming book on crypto scams. Together, we reflect on how cybersecurity is not just about data—it's about protecting the people behind the devices. So tune in, take notes, and take action. Because in this connected world, safety isn’t automatic—it’s intentional.Visit www.thecyberwild.com or reach Jeffrey directly at [email protected] to learn more about his work. And as always, you can find more preparedness resources at www.emergencyactionplanning.com and follow the ACT ASAP podcast wherever you listen.

NEWMORROW SESSIONS - A PodCast Series on the Future of Hospitality Mario C. Bauer, Florian Schneider, Axel Weber & Dr. Tillman Bardt The Newmorrow PodCast is more than a podcast — it's a platform for open dialog on the future of our business, a platform for those building what doesn’t exist yet. Here, we share and embrace our passion for the hospitality industry, but we won’t romanticize the journey. We ask the tough questions, confront uncomfortable truths, and prepare for a future that resists easy answers. We believe that the tougher and wilder times become, the more openly, honestly and humanely people need to talk to each other and act together. We believe, openness, togetherness, and truthfulness should also be cornerstones of a professional community to develop our utopian idea of „open source“. This is a space where visionaries don’t just imagine the future — they wrestle with the paradoxes that shape it: success vs. happiness, data vs. instinct, stability vs. reinvention. Join leaders, entrepreneurs, and thinkers as they share not what made them — but what’s actively shaping them, now and next. Mark Shaffer Philosopher Kings empowers next-gen professionals to think, speak, and act with knowledge, wisdom, and virtue.  Lum and Abner Old Time guoshibing The series was created by co-stars Chester Lauck (who played Columbus "Lum" Edwards) and Norris Goff (Abner Peabody). Lum always pronounced his own name as Ed'erds and was very annoyed if Abner or anyone brought up his full first name. The two characters performed as a double act, with Lum generally playing the straight man to Abner's attempts to break free from Lum's influence. As co-owners of the Jot 'em Down Store in the fictional town of Pine Ridge, Arkansas, the pair are constantly stumbling upon moneymaking ideas only to find themselves fleeced by nemesis Squire Skimp, before finally finding a way to redeem themselves. Lum and Abner played the hillbilly theme with deceptive cleverness. In addition to the title characters, Lauck also played Grandpappy Spears and Cedric Weehunt while Goff played Abner, Squire Skimp, Llewelyn "Mousey" Grey, Dick Huddleston, and most of the other characters.Lum and Abner, like most sitcoms of the era, had a live house band, in
