Margo Jones (December 12, 1911 – July 24,1955), nicknamed the "Texas Tornado", was an American stagedirector and producer, best known for launching the American regional theater movement and for introducing the theater in the round concept in Dallas, Texas. In 1947, she established the first regional professional company when she opened Theater '47 in Dallas. Margo Jones played an important role in the early careers of a range of playwrights. On Broadway shedirected Tennessee Williams', A Glass Menagerie and Summer and Smoke and produced on Broadway Jerome Lawrence and Robert E Lee's, Inherit the Wind. She also championed the career of William Inge. Jerome Weeks was the arts producer-reporter for the NPR-PBS station KERA for 15 years. A professional critic for more than three decades, he was the theater critic for TheDallas Morning News for ten years and thepaper’s book columnist for ten years afterthat. He blogged as book/daddy for Artsjournal, and his writing has appeared in the San Francisco Chronicle, LosAngeles Times, Newsday, American Theatre magazine.
