Guest Tommy Savitt
from We Think It's Funny Hosted by We Think It's Funny
This week, the We Think It's Funny podcast welcomes the enlightened yet hilariously irreverent Tommy Savitt, better known to fans worldwide as his alter-ego, The Tommy Lama. Hosts Daniel Lobell and Mark Schiff dive deep with the multi-award-winning comedian into the nuances of his craft, exploring his unique journey from Brooklyn law student to a Las Vegas residency staple. The episode offers a fascinating look at the "blue-collar guru's" life on the high seas, as Savitt shares stories from his extensive work on cruise ships and the logistical tightrope of performing for international audiences. Perhaps most insightful is the trio's breakdown of the creative evolution between a one-man show and a traditional comedy special, providing a rare, behind-the-curtain glimpse into how Savitt balances character-driven performance with stand-up grit.
