Guests - Jeff Rhodes, Dave Smith Two days after Arizona's primary, with roughly 20,000 Pima County ballots still uncounted, Kathleen Winn opened with a result nobody expected her to get: for the first time in years, Republicans have fielded a candidate in Supervisor District 5. Jeff Rhodes needed 143 write-in votes to make the November ballot. He appears to have cleared it comfortably. "The good news is in November, it'll be pre-printed on the ballot," Winn said — which means voters in a district that has effectively had no choice will have one. The rest of the morning worked outward from there: what a second conservative vote on a five-member board actually buys, why a felon with a prior aggravated assault conviction was out at two in the morning with a gun, and — with former county chair Dave Smith — the uglier question of how a party that just finished beating itself up intends to unify before October.
