The mother, MJ, discovered the band in high school and became a dedicated fan, attending numerous shows. When MJ's  brother joined the Peace Corps and went to Rwanda, MJ continued going to shows with her son, Trip. Trip attended his first show at the age of five and had the opportunity to go on stage and listen to the band through their in-ear monitors.
