A map of Chattanooga’s Civic Center District.(Chattanooga Design Studio)Look at a map of downtown Chattanooga - and you can trace the boundaries of the Civic Center District between 4th and 13th Streets, and between Highway 27 to Houston Street.Just a few destinations within those boundaries: TVA, the Dome Building, Miller Park, EPB, the Tivoli Theatre and the West Village.The nonprofit Chattanooga Design Studio is now guiding a planning process with community input for the district’s future - to arrive at a collective vision for “a downtown where people connect.”The next chance for people to connect with the planning process is what is known as a charrette - on Monday, August 12th at the downtown Chattanooga Public Library, starting at 4 PM.Eric Myers is executive director of Chattanooga Design Studio.Ginger Birnbaum is the Studio’s development and outreach director.The Downtown Chattanooga skyline.(Jonathan Mulkey)
