Guilford County Summer Meals On the Go
from Greensboro News Today | 2 Min News | The Daily News Now!
Guilford County Schools is making summer meals easier for kids under 18 with a new “meals to-go” program at four locations, offering a full week’s worth of breakfast and lunch in one trip. Available Wednesdays from 3–6 p.m. between June 17–24 and July 8–Aug. 12, families must sign up at gcsnc.com/summermeals. Superintendent Dr. Whitney Oakley says the initiative removes barriers like transportation and work schedules to ensure kids stay nourished during the summer. With 22.5% of local children facing food insecurity, these meals are a vital lifeline. Families can choose either weekly to-go or daily dine-in meals—but not both—and meals won’t be distributed on June 18, June 29–July 2, or Fridays.
