Guilty - Audio
from Chiangmai Christian Fellowship · host Tim Dunham
Big Idea - All sin causes us to be guilty before God. Guilt refers to the state or fact of having done something wrong. Specifically, one has failed to keep the covenant regulations. But, guilt is also the awareness that we have done wrong, violated God's laws, and, as a result, we feel the sense of wrongness, failure, and that we are unworthily to stand before God. The only remedy for guilt is forgiveness. Sin has many deadly effects, therefore forgiveness has many layers. The most significant is that we are under the wrath of God and deserving of death. The Burnt offering satisfies the wrath of God and by it, the sinner is then at peace with God. Secondly, sin pollutes and defiles the sinner and contaminates the holy dwelling of God (even more so now as we are the temple of the God). So, sin must also be cleansed - its filth and pollution washed away from the sinner and the holy place. Finally, sin is described as a debt. This is most easily seen in our sins toward each other.
