Originally Aired: August 3, 1938In The Lone Ranger #861, "Guilty Knowledge," a cold-blooded murder shatters the peace of the range country near Meg's Crossing. Eric Wagner, a well-liked rancher with no known enemies, is shot dead from ambush by a hidden rifleman. When the Lone Ranger and U.S. Marshal Al Cook discover the body, they find mysterious hoof prints with a distinctive broken shoe that could identify the killer's horse. The masked rider convinces the marshal to keep Wagner's death secret while he investigates, volunteering to ride to Arizona to inform Eric's only heir, his niece Helen.In Arizona, the Lone Ranger finds Helen Wagner struggling to save her failing ranch with only loyal cowhand Tom Forbes at her side. The situation grows tense when Greg Spencer, Helen's former fiancé who abandoned her when she lost most of her cattle, suddenly reappears asking for her hand in marriage. Tom suspects Greg's motives and challenges him, while Helen remains torn between the two men. The Lone Ranger must determine whether Helen's desperate financial situation and Greg's convenient timing connect to Eric Wagner's murder.
