The Babylonians, led by King Nebuchadnezzar, took many young men from Judah into captivity, including Daniel, Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego. These four men remained faithful to God and were given wisdom and high positions in the king’s palace.King Nebuchadnezzar built a giant golden idol and commanded everyone to bow down to it. Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego refused. The king angrily threw them into a fiery furnace, but God protected them. The fire did not harm them, and a fourth figure—like the Son of God—appeared with them in the flames.Amazed, the king called them out and praised the God of Israel for His power. He made a new law to honor God and promoted the three men to even higher positions in Babylon.
