Gun Lock Law Takes Effect, Was Passed Without The Mayor | Michael Smolens

Amid increasing public sentiment for gun control legislation, Mayor Kevin Faulconer withheld his support from a citywide firearms safety measure. The San Diego Safe Storage of Firearms Ordinance was approved by the City Council in July and took effect Thursday. The measure requires guns in homes to be stored in a locked container or disabled by a trigger lock unless they are being carried by or are under the control of the owner or authorized user. It became law without the mayor’s signature.
