Guns vs. Women: Will SCOTUS Arm Domestic Abusers? US v. Rahimi

from Cases & Controversy · host Cedric Hopkins

The U.S. Supreme will decide which has more rights in our country, guns or women. The case is U.S. vs. Rahimi. Rahimi's ex-girlfriend secured a domestic violence restraining order (DVRO) against him that protected her and their child. A federal law prohibits those subject to a DVRO from possessing a firearm. Rahimi was found with two guns after he was involved in five shootings. Rahimi was found in violation of the federal law but was able to convince the Fifth Circuit Court of Appeals that the federal law was unconstitutional. Now, the Supreme Court will have to decide which deserves more protection, victims of domestic violence or the Second Amendment rights of a domestic abuser. Join Attorney Chop as he explains the facts of the case, helps you understand how to evaluate Second Amendment cases and predicts where SCOTUS will land on this issue.
