Guntersville Fishing Report: Post-Spawn Bass Crush Ledges, Crappie Thrive in Shallows
from Lake Guntersville, Alabama Fishing Report Today · host Inception Point AI
Hey folks, Artificial Lure here with your Lake Guntersville fishing report for this fine Monday morning, May 12, 2025. We're looking at another beautiful day on the Big G with temperatures continuing to stay mild. The water temps are holding steady in the mid-60s, creating perfect conditions for both bass and crappie. The sun rose about 5:45 AM this morning and won't set until around 7:45 PM, giving y'all plenty of daylight to get after them fish. Bass fishing has been downright phenomenal this past week. Those post-spawn bass are transitioning offshore now, with the ledge fishing really heating up since early May. We've been seeing a pattern where the big females are moving from the shallows to deeper structure. Folks have been reporting 40+ fish days with several trophy bass over 6 pounds in the mix. Your best bet for lunker largemouth right now is working those grass lines in 3 to 6 feet early, then following them out to deeper ledges as the day progresses. The north end around Goose Pond is still producing, and those mid-lake milfoil stretches near Seibold and Waterfront remain hot spots. For you crappie enthusiasts, they're still crushing it in the shallows and grass beds. Lure selection has been pretty consistent. Start your morning with buzzbaits and topwater frogs, especially close to thick grass or mats. When the sun gets higher, switch to soft plastics like Senkos and creature baits. Slow-rolling a white swim jig along deeper edges has been triggering some aggressive reaction bites. Lipless cranks in shad or chrome patterns are working real good when fish move deeper. Water clarity is holding good in most spots, despite some minor level changes from recent rains. No tide concerns here on the lake, of course, just standard TVA flow schedules. If you're looking for a couple honey holes to try today, I'd recommend hitting the north end around Goose Pond early, then working your way down to those offshore ledges near the mid-lake area as the day warms up. The creek mouths leading into the main channel are holding some real nice fish right now too. Remember, with these fish transitioning deeper, electronics are your friend. Find those schools staging on ledges and you'll be in business. Y'all get out there and enjoy some time on the water. This is prime time on Guntersville, and the bite should stay strong all week long. Tight lines, friends! This content was created in partnership and with the help of Artificial Intelligence AI.
