Gupta sanctions

from African Dialogue · host Channel Africa

The United States Treasury has sanctioned three controversial and politically connected Gupta brothers who are at the centre of corruption allegations that contributed to the downfall of South Africa’s former president Jacob Zuma. The relationship between Zuma and the Gupta brothers is one of the focuses of the Commission of Inquiry into State Capture which he himself set up before he was ousted by his own party. Zuma and the Guptas deny the allegations. Meanwhile the financial blacklisting was reported across the globe, the Guptas will face increasing difficulty doing business globally. To look at this we are joined by: • Professor Bheki Mngomezulu from the Politics department at the University of the Western Cape.• Elvis Masoga is a political analyst.
