The Tokyo Olympics are under two weeks away and the New Zealand contingent has started to arrive in Japan. But these are still set to be a games like no other. Game venues will not have spectators due to Tokyo imposing a state of emergency throughout the event due to the Covid-19 pandemic. There are also strict restrictions for athletes and media in place.TVNZ sports reporter Guy Heveldt is in Tokyo to cover the games. He told Francesca Rudkin that some media are restricted in where they are allowed to go, making it difficult for them to find food.He says that they are getting tested and having their temperature checked regularly. "A lot of it is what we're kind of used to, but there is no doubt that it is being ramped up somewhat."Even just getting into the country was a mission. We spent five hours sitting in Nareda Airport, and that was purely while they checked our documents."They are taking no chances."Heveldt says that the athletes are pretty much only allowed to go between the athlete's village and their venue, and that's it.
