Guyana’s athletics team is gearing up for three major global events, blending veteran stars with rising juniors to make waves on the world stage. At the Commonwealth Games in Scotland, sprinters Nolex Holder, Shamar Horatio, Akeem Stewart, and Jackson Clarke lead the charge in sprints and relays, while Ravon Williams, Simeon Adams, Aaliyah Moore, and Kelisa Smith anchor the middle and mixed relays. Stephon Roach and Kelisa Smith also compete in jumps and sprints. For the CAC Games in the Dominican Republic, just two athletes—Jouvanna Cornette and Anisha Gibbons—will represent Guyana in the 100m and javelin. The biggest showpiece is the World U20 Championships in Oregon, featuring a powerhouse junior squad including national 400m record holder Malachi Austin, multi-event star Skylar Charles, and a roster of 10 other elite young talents. The Athletics Association of Guyana is rallying behind all athletes and coaches, thanking the government and sponsors for making these international opportunities possible.
