Here is the transcript of the second hour of The Charlie James Show, with Heidi Harris guest-hosting: Heidi Harris: I just mentioned briefly Jasmine Crockett, uh, outgoing, luckily, congressman—congresswoman from Texas and her comments about what America owes Black women, which apparently, according to her, is everything. Uh, I normally—I don't do that. I normally don't sit here and do the whatever crazy liberal said and rattle off, "This one said that, and that one said that, and aren't they crazy? And aren't they stupid?" [sighs] Sorry, that's not my thing. Not into that. But I did want to mention it because we're talking about America this week. We're talking about, obviously, America all the time, but talking about July 4th, Independence Day, and remember independence? Independence! We got out from under the thumb of England. Pretty cool. And you know what you can do with it? You can do things like—wait a minute, have you ever heard of—now, I know—I know they have, uh, Black History Month. Did they ever talk about—have you ever, if you're Black and you're listening, have your children heard about C— Madam C.J. Walker? Anybody heard about her? America's first Black, our first millionaire, female Black, by the way. Black! Black! Black! Born on a plantation in Delta, Louisiana, in 1867. Her parents had been enslaved—obviously, by 1867, they weren't slaves, but her parents had been enslaved. Orphaned at age seven. I could give you her whole story, but I won't. But she was a washerwoman. I mean, basically, you know, thought that was going to be her life. And got to know some other women who encouraged her that, "Hey, no, that doesn't have to be what your life is." And she started having problems with her hair, got a scalp ailment related to her job, apparently, and her life—where she was living. And so she made—came up with a homemade ointment, came up with something that was amazing, and ultimately became a millionaire as a result of it, Madam C.J. Walker. And in addition to that, she created opportunities for other women, Black women, hiring them as sales agents and devising strategies for them to increase their own skills. That's what she did. Born in—did I mention 1867? Okay. See what I'm saying? I mean, America is what you make of it. People have different strengths and abilities and levels of intelligence—all of that, all of that! We know that. I mean, I'm not a wealthy person. I'm never going to be a millionaire, I don't think. Probably not. Probably never. That's okay! I have a great life. I love my life. I'm content with my life. I haven't tried to pursue that. It hasn't been more important to me than other things. Some people—for some people, they pursue it because they either have a knack for just making tons of money and just really good at it. I've known a few people like that that can turn poop into gold, I don't care what business they run. I have a friend who, uh, ran a business. He was a photographer when I met him, taking pictures of little toddlers at schools. Best—I—I couldn't believe how good he was. I—I actually worked with him a couple times. He'd—the things that he would do to get the kids to smile, because he always had a little handheld, you know, flash, or whatever. Uh, what do you call it? Whatever. Anyway. Um, but he'd walk around and make jokes and hit himself with a thing, and the kids would laugh or—or look funny. He'd hit the picture. He was brilliant at taking pictures of kids—brilliant! I've never seen anything like it. And then he got into—owned an archery store, and he was brilliant at that. And then he owned a couple of car dealerships, which he finally sold—brilliant at that! The guy can turn poop into gold every business he's ever had. I do not have that acumen. He does. Some peo—and he's the most amazing guy, solid Christian, gives it all to God. He's an ethical person.
