Transcript [0:00 – Crowd & Singers] (Pledge of Allegiance in progress) ...to the flag of the United States of America, and to the Republic for which it stands, one Nation under God, indivisible, with liberty and justice for all. (Cheering and applause) (Singing "America the Beautiful") Oh beautiful for spacious skies, For amber waves of grain, For purple mountain majesties Above the fruited plain! America! America! God shed His grace on thee, And crown thy good with brotherhood From sea to shining sea! [1:07 – Donald Trump (sampled audio)] America is back! [1:10 – Charlie James] Yes sir, we are back! Well, we have got one week from today, ladies and gentlemen. Early voting starts in the South Carolina Republican primary for the Senate seat. Let's go to Attorney General Alan Wilson right now. Attorney General Wilson, welcome to the program. Hope you're doing well, sir. [1:29 – Alan Wilson] I'm doing very well. I hope you're doing well also. [1:31 – Charlie James] Absolutely. Now, you are trying to—you're trying to get these candidates out in front of the people in South Carolina, aren't you? [1:38 – Alan Wilson] Yes, sir. I mean, obviously, I just spent the last 13 months putting myself out there in the primary so that I could get my message for my vision for South Carolina. And while we only have a two-week primary for the U.S. Senate, I'm doing everything I can to prevent—to provide a forum for the Senate candidates to come share their vision for how they plan to represent South Carolina in the United States Senate and give people around the state an opportunity to hear the candidates up on stage. So, that's what I'm trying to do over the next few weeks. [2:10 – Charlie James] And this is—these are the old-fashioned stump stops, right? [2:13 – Alan Wilson] Yes, sir. And again, at the end of the day, I'm—I'm going to try to let them do most of the talking, but I'm going to just—these will not be debates that I'm doing. There will be a separate debate for these candidates. But this will be an opportunity for me to have a conversation with each of the candidates to ask them open-ended questions that we believe that the people will want to have their ideas on. This could be their views on election integrity, immigration, national security, the military, how judges should be elected, what type of judges they would support, and, you know, how they would work with President Trump. These are just some of the things we'll talk about over the next two weeks. [2:49 – Charlie James] How many stops are planned? [2:51 – Alan Wilson] Right now, we have three stops planned. The first one is this Saturday, Saturday, August 1st, at River Bluff High School. That'll be around 11:30 in the morning, this coming Saturday. And then Thursday, August 6th, in Charleston. I believe that one's at 6:00. And then we'll do Saturday, August 8th—a week from this Saturday—will be in Florence, South Carolina, and that will be, I believe, around 11:00 AM. Now, we do plan to do an Upstate forum, probably in the area of your listeners, so this will be during the runoff. [3:25 – Charlie James] Okay. And there's going to be a runoff because, well, we've got nine people running for this office. Yeah. So, I mean, do we have—do you have anybody confirmed? Well, the big question, I just won't mince words here: Has Darlene Graham agreed to be in any of the stump stops that you guys are putting on? [3:46 – Alan Wilson] We have not heard from her yet, but again, she's just had a funeral yesterday and a funeral today, and she's burying her brother this afternoon in Pickens County. And so, we're trying to be very, obviously, polite about that. But we have about half a dozen candidates have reached out and confirmed that they will attend these forums. [4:06 – Charlie James] Okay, because people need—I mean, gosh, like I said, a week from today early voting starts. Well, let's change the subject here real quick, because we saw testimony today on Capitol Hill t ...
