H2, Segment 1 - Charlie James defends Ralph Norman's donation to Leon Stavrinakis.
from The Charlie James Show Podcast
During this segment of The Charlie James Show, host Charlie James responds to criticisms raised by members of the Graham campaign regarding politician Ralph Norman. Specifically, campaign figures like Abby Zilch highlighted that Norman made maxed-out political donations to Democrat Leon Stavrinakis, who had previously voted against South Carolina's fetal heartbeat bill. James contextualizes this contribution by explaining that the donation occurred during the Charleston mayoral race, where Stavrinakis ran against John Tecklenburg. James argues that Norman supported Stavrinakis strategically as the preferable candidate to Tecklenburg, whose family had ties to high-profile Democrats like Nancy Pelosi. He concludes that the criticisms overlook key political context, defending the decision as an effort to prevent Tecklenburg from taking office.

Transcript Audience: I pledge allegiance to the flag of the United States of America, and to the Republic for which it stands, one Nation under God, indivisible, with liberty and justice for all. Singer: Oh beautiful for spacious skies, for amber waves of grain. For purple mountain majesties above the fruited plain! America! America! God shed His grace on thee! And crown thy good with brotherhood from sea to shining sea! Charlie James: America is back! Yes, sir, and we are back. Mark is in Greenville. How you doing, Mark? Mark: Oh, I'm doing just fine. Um, did want to say, "Oh, Charlie." Here's my thoughts... here are my thoughts on Miss Darlene Graham Nordone, whatever you want to call her. So before the last primary, I know there was a lot of chatter on social media urging Democrats that were still eligible to come out and vote to vote for her in the last primary. I think their hope was that they could get her over 50% and avoid the second runoff altogether. Yeah. So I kind of suspect they're going to do the same thing this go around. Whoever's eligible, get out there and vote for Miss Darlene. And my thought is that if they do get... if Miss Darlene does end up with the nomination for the Republican side, either if she wins or if Andrews wins, they've at least got somebody that is sympathetic to the Democratic... the Democrats. Charlie James: So almost a win-win. Mark: Yeah. So, you know, it's very important this time that every Republican, every true Republican that can, get out there and vote in this primary, this runoff. Charlie James: Yeah, you're exactly right. I appreciate it, Mark. Let's go to Phil. How you doing, Phil? Phil, are you there? Phil: Hi, Charlie. Charlie James: Hey! Phil: Can you hear me? Charlie James: I can, yes, sir. Phil: Oh, okay. Um, thanks for taking my call. I have a theory on why Trump is doing these endorsements. I don't know, Susie Wiles, the Chief of Staff, things probably go through her. At one point, there was some question of her loyalty to Trump early on in the past. I think she's made some comments and she was on Lara Trump to clear or answer that concern, and she did a really good job with that. But there's part of me that still thinks that there is some plant in the administration, and that she may be a part of that. And he can't be aware of everything about everyone in every state, and every candidate, and every town. Right. And I just think that maybe that would... I mean, it's obvious to everybody in South Carolina, just like when Operation Warp Speed, not everybody that was MAGA got the vaccine. The majority of MAGA did not, over 90%, from what I heard. I don't know if that's true. Right, right. So I think in the same vein, I think we're going to probably override that endorsement, even with that rally in Myrtle Beach. I think South Carolinians know more. You know, I support Trump 100% in this thing. I think he's completely wrong, but I think he's getting bad information from his Chief of Staff. That's where I believe. Charlie James: You know, I've wondered about Susie Wiles myself. That name certainly crossed my mind when I was thinking about these endorsements. I appreciate it, Phil. Thank you very much. Now, here's a story that you are going to hear about Ralph Norman. And at first blush, when you hear that story, you'll go, "Oh, my goodness! I can't believe Ralph Norman did that! Why, that's an awful thing to do!" Well, here's the story. And the story is actually coming from people like Kevin Bishop. He's, you know, a big guy over there in the Graham campaign. In fact, he was like Lindsey's lead guy, Kevin Bishop. All right, so Abby Zilch with the Graham campaign posted this: "Ralph Norman..." Listen to what they're doing! Listen to what they are doing! Listen to what they're doing. This is from Abby Zilch, Graham campaign: "Ralph Norman maxed out..." Talking about donation, political contributions. "...Ralph Norman maxed out to pro-choice Democrat Leon Stavrin ...
