Transcript Charlie James: Early voting has started in the South Carolina Senate primary, the special election primary. One of the people running for that office is our guest now, Representative Ralph Norman. Congressman Norman, welcome to the program. Hope you're doing well. Ralph Norman: Doing great. Glad to be with you, Charlie. Charlie James: Absolutely, as always. So, here we are, everybody's out there early voting. Tell everybody right now why they should get out there and vote for Ralph Norman. Ralph Norman: Well, first of all, Charlie, this country is at a tipping point both from a spiritual side and from a—from every other side, namely physical sanity. I'm the only guy that's in this race that's had a solid business career and then, last eight years in Congress, we have made changes toward conservatism. The Senate is where good bills go to die. They're killing the country with—with not even being able to pass the SAVE America Act, which just verifies you're an American citizen. And it's a—and they're doing so many other things that has—is really putting this country in a straitjacket. And I can do more good there than I could in—in the House. But I was going to term limit—I term limited myself anyway, because I—I was getting out of the House regardless if—if the governor's race hadn't come up, it didn't matter. I was getting out. But I can add value here, they need a conservative, and, uh, we can—we can make some changes to a body that should not be doing what they're doing to America. Charlie James: And it is horrible what's going on. I mean, John Thune will not even—I mean, the only way you're going to get anything done is going to have to be getting rid of the—the filibuster, right? Ralph Norman: Yeah, I mean, and for him to keep saying we—we don't have the votes. Well, let's do a walking filibuster. That's to declare cloture and make them stay up all night. I mean, what's wrong with that? We're looking at a constitutional crisis if we don't have fair and safe elections. And, you know, we've got 15 to 20 million illegals in this country. Uh, we've seen the waste, fraud, and abuse. It can't keep going like this. And so, I will add a voice to call this out, as well as represent South Carolina in a way that, um, I think I can do as a true conservative. We got backups, uh, to—to do that with legislation and, uh, to—to help this state move forward. And we've got a lot of challenges in South Carolina, and we got a lot of people coming there from states that they're running from the liberal—liberal, uh, governments that they have like New York, Virginia, Los An—California, and all that—all the rest. So, I'm excited about the chance to serve. Charlie James: So, what if we had, you know, Senate Majority Leader Ralph Norman? How would you handle this situation? How would you get those votes? Ralph Norman: I'd get the walking filibuster. Where you only had 50% plus one, I'd declare cloture, and I'd just make them stand up and—and talk. Strom Thurmond was legendary for doing that. Um, and if you can't do that, there are always that Chip Roy expanded on with the parliamentarian, with—with JD Vance as the vice president. We've got a 53 to 47 majority in the House. Right. And, uh, but you've got the one thing that I've seen is Trump Derangement Syndrome. Um, you got—got Republicans who will not do any—will not vote for anything President Trump wants, and it's hurting the country, and we can't take it right now. Charlie James: You're right, especially with the rise in socialism/communism going on. I mean, that—that's a—that's a facet of the Democrat Party that, I mean, is surprisingly becoming more and more popular, isn't it? Ralph Norman: Well, it is, and you look who's running for office and winning. I mean, Mamdani, uh, is the poster child for this. Look at AOC, the Muslim threat we have, Sharia law, which I've signed a onto a bill that bans it. Uh, we just have to get active. Freedom is not free, and it's not a cl ...
