Transcript Charlie James: All righty, let's go to Don in Pickens and talk to him. Don, welcome. Don: Hey, Charlie, how you doing? Charlie James: I'm doing good, man. Don: Start over. All right, good. I got something to say here about last night's debate, okay? And then there's going to be a question at the end I'd like you to answer for me, okay? First of all—first of all, she made a statement in her closing statement that she's done more in the last 20 days than Ralph Norman did in 20 years, okay? How could she do so much in 20 days when the Congress and the Senate are on summer break? Charlie James: Yeah, I mean, you're exactly right. I mean, she was there for what, maybe a week, week and a half? Don: Yeah, they all went home. They didn't even vote on the SAVE America Act or nothing, they took off. Okay? Charlie James: Right. Well, what she is claiming here is—that this is her definition of work: she took a lot of legislation that had already passed the Senate, and she just put her name on it. Don: Oh, I see. Okay, cool. Charlie James: Literally—literally, that's what happened. Don: Yeah. So, the one question I'd like you to answer for me, okay? 'Cause she—she accused him of doing nothing except for one thing: he put a name on a post office in South Carolina. What post office did he name? Can you help— Charlie James: That's a good question. I—you know, I remember—I remember that. I remember her saying that, but I don't—I don't know which post office it was. Don: I don't think she knows, either. You have a great day, Charlie. Charlie James: I don't either. I appreciate it, Don, thank you. One of the other things that she kept saying was, "You gave money to a Democrat! You gave—" And here's the thing. Boy, I tell you what, if—if I wish Ralph Norman were better prepared for this, 'cause I'd have said, "Which Democrat? Tell me which Democrat I donated to." Because he did. He donated to a Democrat. It was back in 2015. It was the mayor's race for the city of Charleston. The only two people running in this race were two Democrats. One, Leon Stavrinakis. Number two, John Tecklenburg. Leon Stavrinakis, at the time, a moderate Democrat, somebody that you could actually reason with. The other guy, John Tecklenburg, was a radical left-wing Democrat. In fact, he was the former head of the South Carolina Democrat Party. His brother was a speechwriter for Nancy Pelosi, just to let you know how radical he was. So Ralph Norman donated to the lesser of those two evils in that race for mayor of Charleston. I wasn't living in the city of Charleston at the time—this was before I moved to the peninsula, I was over in Mount Pleasant when this was happening—I was supporting Leon Stavrinakis on that one. Because Tecklenburg was an absolute disaster. But nobody'll ask that question, will they? Let's go to Lance in Pelzer. Lance, welcome. Lance: First-time caller, Charlie. Charlie James: All right, here you go! There you go, there you go, man! What's up? Lance: Thank you. Uh, have a question for you, and I have a theory. Um, why do you think Trump gave his endorsement to her? Charlie James: All right, well, it had to be one of two things. Number one, his loyalty, for whatever reason, to Lindsay Graham. Just out of, I don't know, whatever loyalty he had to Lindsay. Um, or number two, in that meeting with Darlene, she promised him the absolute moon. Lance: Well, my theory is—and maybe I'm wrong, I don't know, and I'm a Trump guy, have been all the way—um, that maybe he thinks she would be a useful idiot. And, you know, he can just tell her, "This is how you vote." Um, but that's for a year and a half. We'll be stuck with her for six years. Charlie James: Yeah, exactly. Exactly. Can the next president, hopefully a Republican, count on Darlene Graham? Lance: And I'm terrified that she's going to pull it out because of Trump's endorsement. Charlie James: Yeah. Well, we'll see.
