Caller (Doug): Sorry I haven't been around for a minute, but, um, due to things that happened the first of the year, I've been out of pocket. Charlie James: Yeah. Well, I understand. Caller (Doug): The main thing I think is going on, and around us and, uh, all the talk about digital currency, shutting bank accounts down, bank shutdowns, and all that crazy stuff. First thing we need to do is stop giving people a paycheck who aren't working. Charlie James: I agree. Caller (Doug): That's called—that's called the federal government. They don't work for us. Yeah. You had, uh, Mike Johnson, he just did a thing where he secured the money so they can go to the election without no shutdown. Um, you know, I just don't get it why people just keep talking about it, and we don't just stand up and take it back. Charlie James: Take what back? Caller (Doug): Take our country back. Charlie James: Yeah, well, we need to. The best way to do that is get out there and vote, Dog. I appreciate it, buddy. Thank you. Well, here—but here's—so here's what really irritates me. Charlie James: You got John Thune over here, that keeps talking about he does not have enough votes to do away with the filibuster. "Oh, we just—we just don't have enough votes. We just don't—I just don't have enough votes to do away with the filibuster." Charlie James: Well, here's what you do. You need to do what Hakeem Jeffries did today. Now, this is the difference between the Republicans and the Democrats. House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries and his leadership team announced that they are eyeing punishment for two House Democrats who bucked their party yesterday. Representatives Marie Gluesenkamp Perez of Washington and Jared Golden of Maine broke with leadership to advance a key procedural vote that revived Republicans' legislative agenda. The incredibly rare crossing of party lines incensed many House Democrats and the top leaders who were then forced to vote on a slate of GOP priorities. "The decision by two of our colleagues to blindside the entire House Democratic Caucus and join with the Republican majority to pass a procedural rule on the brink of failing represents a significant breach of trust," Jeffries said. "It is an action that necessitates a serious response, and we have asked the Committee on Caucus Rules to take this up in short order." Charlie James: Could you imagine if John Thune threatened those members of the Senate that way? Oh, you would get their attention! Golden told reporters yesterday that he backed the measure because it provided for passage of a bill that he co-sponsored, benefiting Maine lobstermen in his home state while delaying the implementation of fishing regulations meant to protect the North Atlantic right whale population.
