Transcript Charlie James: All right, it's quitting time, y'all! As you head on home from work, you put in a good day's work. You ought to be proud of yourself. Why don't you join us this afternoon? Give us a call over on the Ingles Market Talk Line: 800-905-0989. Let's go to Vinnie in Boiling Springs. Vinnie, welcome my friend. How are you? Vinnie: Hey, happy Monday to you, Charlie. Charlie James: Yes, sir! Vinnie: Hey, I was over the weekend—and I know last week we spoke about Jelly Roll and how he went on Jimmy Kimmel and shot down Trump and the jokes and all that. But in defense, I sent you something in your text line. I don't know if you can see it right there. The interview between Joy Behar and Jelly Roll. And he came in to do an interview about redemption and hope for those that were where he was, and how he was able to get out of it and come above. I want you to take a second and listen to how he puts this woman in place and calls her out for the true person that she really is. Yeah. I mean, you can see the attack right away when it switched right off. And you can just listen to it. Oh my god, it was perfect! I'm celebrating my Monday on that interview alone! Charlie James: But you know what? When that happens— Vinnie: I've never heard a woman put in her place like that! Charlie James: And then he comes along and does what he said about President Trump. I mean, I don't get it. I really don't. Vinnie: Okay, in defense of that, in just a slight defense of that... you know, every other singer can get up there, you know how you get on the roast and you roast them and stuff? That was a joking part. And you know, Dolly, she didn't show either way, you know what I mean? God bless her little angel soul. She kept her politics to herself. But you know, when it comes to the roasting, if you look back on it, all this guy has done and everything that he does throughout his life is just for everybody else. Yes, he's done wrong in the past. Yes, we've all got skeletons in our closet. He's paid his dues, and he's back out trying to pay ahead. And no, he can't correct the wrong that he's done to the people he has done it to. Okay, and in their hearts they have to find that kind of forgiveness. Charlie James: Yeah, well, it's going to take me... I'm not going to excuse what he did quite as quickly as you are, Vinnie. I mean, the guy—'Oh, I'm redeemed.' So everybody, all these people, here's Jelly Roll, we know his life, we know his life story. All of a sudden he's a big Christian, and then he goes on The Jimmy Kimmel Show and he acts exactly the opposite. What? Excuse me? No, I'm not... You know what? I don't believe I have ever knowingly listened to a Jelly Roll song. I may have heard it in the background, whatever. But I'm not going to do it, and now for dang sure! That's 100%. Let's go to Matt in Greenville. Matt, welcome. Matt: Hey, Charlie. How are you? Charlie James: I'm good, man. What's up? Matt: I wanted to comment on this Jelly Roll thing. He's a human piece of garbage. Fits in as a rapper, wants to be a country singer, goes that route, and then he wants to trash one of the main guys in country music that people like. 'Let's go after middle-class white America now that I divorced my hooker wife.' Charlie James: Yeah, or she left him. Matt: Not a fan. Let me lose some weight and change who I am completely with my face tattoos. Charlie James: Yeah. It really is amazing. And I appreciate it, Matt. But see, that's the thing about salvation. That's when you get that new heart. That's when you literally get that spiritual heart transplant. I don't see any... I don't see any from him. I really don't. And here's the thing: remember, he read all of those jokes before. They were all on either a cue card or a big giant screen in front of him that's a teleprompter. He knew what he was saying. He approved what he was saying. At any time he could have said, 'Nah, I'm not going to do that. Nope, strike that one, strike tha ...
