Full Transcript Charlie James: I find it funny that Dr. Annie Andrews—who is running for the Senate over on the Democratic side—says that… [laughs] …that all of the candidates—she doesn’t even know who the candidates are yet—she says that they don’t have a vision for South Carolina. She said this: "Over the next three weeks, South Carolinians will hear a great deal from the candidates competing in the Republican primary. These candidates have no vision for the future of South Carolina. They have no plan to lower cost or fix our broken healthcare system..." We’ll get back to that in just a second. "...They have no plan to get us out of this deeply unpopular war with Iran. So while who I am running against has changed, who I'm running for has not." Let’s go back to that "broken healthcare system." Healthcare is not broken. Health insurance—that’s broken. But Dr. Annie Andrews is being a little bit hypocritical about this. 'Cause if you go back and you look at when she ran for the House, they had to file this earnings report. Oh boy, it must be good to be a pediatrician! So, she’s got a 529 plan with about $250,000 in it. She’s got a bank account where she only keeps about 50 grand in that. She’s got deferred compensation of about $500,000. She’s got qualified retirement of a million—between $1 million and $5 million. She’s got a Roth IRA of about half a million dollars. She’s got another Roth IRA of $250,000. Her assets are about $1 million. Let’s see here... if you go down to earned income from the Medical University of South Carolina, in I believe 2021 or 2022, she got $19,000—but that was only part of the year. The previous year, she earned $206,000. Her husband, also in the medical field, earned $360,000—between $360,000 and $375,000—from University Medical Associates, and Medical University of South Carolina, $22,000. So you just add up $375,000... I mean, this is unbelievable. This family makes almost $600 grand a year! Why? Because they work in the so-called "broken healthcare system." Well, if you want to do something, Dr. Annie Andrews, I’ve got an idea. Why don’t you not work for the Medical University of South Carolina? Why don’t you not work for University Medical Associates? Why doesn’t your husband not work for University Medical Associates, and why doesn’t he not work for the Medical University of South Carolina? Why don’t you guys go out and just be independent doctors? Go rent a little place right there off Calhoun Street—plenty of little office buildings along there. Put up your shingle: Dr. Annie Andrews, Pediatrician. And then, only accept cash. How about that? How about you do that, Dr. Annie Andrews? Don’t accept any insurance. Only cash. And let’s see how long you stay in the medical profession. We don’t have a broken healthcare system—the care that people get in this country is great. What we’ve got is a broken corporate medical system, a system of which she is a part of—quite lucratively, I might add—and we have a broken health insurance system. The healthcare is fine; it’s who pays for it. So if you really want to do something, go out, be on your own. Hang up that shingle in a little office. There’s a great little restaurant right around the corner—it’s over on Broad Street, go check that out. You could do something about it, but you don’t want to. You don’t want to do anything about it. Why? Because that would hurt your bottom line. Over $600,000 a year in salary! And this, folks, let me tell you this—this was back in 2022. 2021 and 2022, she was making that kind of money.
