Transcript Charlie James: All right, welcome back to the program. Well, joining us right now is State Representative John McCravy. John, welcome to the program, buddy. It's going to be an amazing event tonight, isn't it? John McCravy: Thank you, Charlie. It's always good to see you, man. Charlie James: You, too, buddy. I tell you what, we're going to have some food, we're going to have some great speakers, we're going to have a lot of—it's going to be a lot of excitement tonight, right? John McCravy: I'm really looking forward to it. You know, Sheri—Sheri Big, she says she has exceeded my expectations by 200%. I mean, she has come in strong, she's been a Christian conservative, not just a conservative. And she cares about—about the—the faith and Christianity, and I'm just—I'm just very impressed. She's not ashamed, you know? She's not ashamed to say something about the Lord. And I'm just happy about that, you know? That's the kind of thing we need in leadership nowadays. Charlie James: You're exactly right. I mean, with everything else we got going on in this country. Let's talk a little bit about that budget. I know we were just talking to you. McMaster made some statement today about some vetoes in the budget. We hear that he's taking out the 150 million for Scout Motors, which should have never been there to begin with, right? John McCravy: Shouldn't have been there to begin with. That's one reason I voted to send it back to the conference committee. I think too many things were injected into it that we didn't know about and too many things are still in it, like the ability to spend money for drag shows, your tax money, like a $32 million waste to buy a sandbar down in Charleston. You know, I just can't vote for that kind of thing, so I voted to send it back. But I'm glad to hear that our governor did veto that. That's—that's important. Charlie James: Well, that's just what I've heard. Hopefully, I'm absolutely right about that. And, you know, we were just talking a minute ago, the average South Carolinian, we have no idea how these budgets even get drafted. John McCravy: Well, it's a mystery even to people in the legislature, let me tell you that. So, we do end up with a conference committee every year, so six people end up really making a big difference in our budget. And there, you know, three from the Senate and three from the House. And so, things are done in that committee, they're kind of negotiated a lot behind the scenes, and so we find out after the fact on some things. Charlie James: Yeah, pretty amazing, pretty amazing. So, anything else that is going on in the House we need to know about? John McCravy: Well, right now we're not meeting, so South Carolina is still safe right now. Charlie James: No more money is being spent, right? John McCravy: That's right, that's right. So, anyway, Charlie, always good to see you, man. Charlie James: Good to see you, John. He conducted our forum. I was part of the forum in the Palmetto Conservative Fund. I actually won the Republican nomination for Greenville County Council in the southern part of the county. Joey did a phenomenal job at being a moderator for our debates in the past, and, you know, like I said, I just figured, outside of you sticking up for him, I want to stick up for him, too, because he is down the middle, equal when he's among other candidates. And it's actually a loss for the SCGOP and SCTV to lose a guy like that. But, you know, Joey, if you're listening, keep your head up.
