Full Transcript Charlie James: All right, welcome back to the program as we broadcast live from Sherry Biggs' Salute to Liberty event right here in Anderson. We are being joined right now by former White House Chief of Staff, Mark Meadows. Good afternoon, sir. Man, what an event! Mark Meadows: Oh, it's a great event, it's great to be with you. I saw you over there, and, you know, it reminds me of those days where you're actually out there campaigning on a regular basis. The wonderful thing about being here at this event, it's not only a salute to liberty, but it's a confirmation that Sherry Biggs actually did what she said she was going to do, and that's rare in Washington, D.C. Charlie James: And she came in like gangbusters. I mean, here was one—admittedly, a lot of people had doubts about Sherry Biggs in the beginning. Mark Meadows: Well, I had doubts. I mean, I had to apologize to her, I had personal doubts, and she has been the real deal. Charlie James: Hit it out of the park! She absolutely has. I'm telling you what. So, let me ask you, you know, being Chief of Staff for the first Trump administration, what are the differences that you see in the first administration and this one? Mark Meadows: Well, I think that he's got a better team around him, and I can say that as part of his team on Trump 1. A better team, but it's also that he understands Washington, D.C., and knows that most people will lie to him given the opportunity. He also understands that there's always an agenda. And the team that he's got around him right now is extremely strong. Listen, with any team you have your superstars and your utility players, but he's doing a great job. Obviously, South Carolina is a special place for him. It's what sent him to the White House, or the start of what sent him to the White House in 2016, and yet he has not lost in terms of the people of South Carolina and what's important to them. Charlie James: So, I mean, here we are. The first Trump administration, he had to fight the Democrats, had to fight the Republicans, had to fight the media. Same fights this time. What do we do? How do we get rid of that roadblock in the Senate? Mark Meadows: You know, I think probably the biggest thing is you've got to make sure that the Senate is willing to do the hard things, and sometimes the hard things send you home. And I'll say this, the filibuster—I think you need to get rid of the filibuster. I think you not only get rid of it, but you make sure that the President gets his agenda implemented. And quite frankly, too many on both sides of the aisle love the way that D.C. operates, and they're not willing to change it because they're part of the gravy train. And so that's why who we send in terms of from South Carolina is going to be key. You know, there's a special election going on right now that's really tough. I saw you had Ralph Norman here earlier. Ralph and Elaine are dear friends, and it's been one of the few, like Sherry Biggs, that actually made a big difference when he came in. He actually was a better member of Congress than I anticipated that he would be. Charlie James: We're talking with former Trump Chief of Staff, Mark Meadows. You know, here we are, and you talked about doing away with the filibuster. There is a theory out there that a lot of people in the Senate do not want to be in the majority. They would rather be in the minority so they don't have to govern. Mark Meadows: Well, they don't have to govern, and the other part of that is they can always blame it. You know, here's the thing that drives me crazy, and your listeners could attest to this better than I can. You know, I was told that if we just gave the Republicans the majority in the House, everything would be fine. If you just give us the Republican majority in the House and the Senate, everything would be fine. And if you just give us the White House, the Senate, and the House, everything would be fine, and voila, nothing has been fine. A ...
