Habakkuk | The Judgment of God--What Does It Look Like?

from Resurrection City Church - St. Paul Minnesota · host Resurrection City Church

God’s response to Habakkuk’s complaint is that he does indeed see injustice, and he does not let it stand. In this sermon Pastor Joel explains what God’s judgment does and doesn’t look like, past, present, and future, and how salvation and grace grow alongside God’s judgment. The righteous decree of God is to turn those who chase idols over to their idols, which has a tragic consequence: death. In sorrow, but in justice, God sometimes allows people to experience what they desire, which is a life without God. When that happens, death inevitably takes has its effect. Yet in the midst of judgment, God is also always working at salvation. The revelation of the gospel effects both of them. This should be a healing balm to both those who lament the evil and injustice of Habakkuk’s time as well as our own, and those who, like Habakkuk, cry out for deliverance from the evil times they live in.
