Habitat's Kahya Fox previews La Crosse Housing Week and Neighbors' Day, Colgan talks Habitat For Heroes

Kahya Fox in studio to preview Habitat for Humanity's first-ever La Crosse Housing week, which begins April 28 with 12 different programs. Fox, the executive director of Habitat For Humanity of the Greater La Crosse Region, talks about what exactly Housing Week is, why La Crosse needs to have these conversations and how we can fix housing in the region. Along with La Crosse Housing Week, Fox also discusses Neighbors' Day, which happens April 26 — where volunteers spend the day helping over 200 elderly La Crosse residents do some spring clean up to their yards. Habitat is taking volunteers right up to that Saturday, but the sooner you sign up, the easier it is for Fox to plan. Also joining is Kelly Colgan, who is representing Habitat For Heroes in the Conductor Wannabe competition put on by the La Crosse Symphony Orchestra. Colgan, the president of Colgan Air Service in La Crosse, talks about why this project that's been going on since 2019 — building and fixing up houses for veterans — is so important to her, being her dad was awarded a Bronze Star for his heroics in the Vietnam War and how a lot of her family has served in the military.  Colgan is one of five groups taking part in the competition, where fans can vote by donating at least $2 — with half going to the La Crosse Symphony Orchestra and the other half to each wannabe's initiative.
