Habits of a Believer

from Northeast Christian Church · host Northeast Christian Church

Title: The Bible Scripture: Topical Speaker: Dr. Rev. Paul Conway How did we get it, how to read it & discussion about Bart Ehrdman Ph.D. a misguided scholar who is dismantling the faith of people with an limited field of study, Text Criticism. The Bible we have today came from thousands upon thousands of copies. The discipline of examining such manuscripts and selecting the version closest to the original Bible is called "Text Criticism." Bruce Metzger Ph.D. The greatest in this field said "We have 99.5% accuracy of the original Bible in our translations." Bart Ehrdman Ph.D., one of his students is now an atheist. He has turned his effort to writing books that use Text Criticism that have sown doubt and led to the de-conversion of many with his books on the NYT Best Sellers list. We engage the topic but so much more is left to be said. We recommend the book "Myths and Mistakes in Text Criticism" as a starting point. We DO NOT recommend Bart Ehrdmans books. But certainly not before reading and becoming familiar with the topic with the book recommendation we made or writings by Daniel Wallace Ph.D. However Myths and Mistakes is very user friendly.
