Today’s guest is ultra-marathon runner, keynote speaker, success coach, optimist, and author of The Miracle Morning, Hal Elrod. After being hit head-on by a drunk driver, declared dead for six whole minutes, breaking 11 bones, and being told that he would never walk again, Hal has persevered and succeeded not only in spite of his adversity, but because of it. Hal explains in our interview how he used his accident to fuel a triumphant comeback inspired by “The Five Minute Rule” he learned at Cutco. Hal focused all of his energy and strength on getting better and resisted falling into the traps of negativity and despair. One of his secrets was accepting things outside of his control to find freedom from negative emotions. According to Hal, he was “put on this earth to overcome adversity and turn it into something positive.” He never got stuck in anger and denial, instead powering forward to health and prosperity.Hal shares that his true rock bottom didn’t occur in a hospital bed, but after the financial crises in 2008.
