Half a Blanket

A timeless story for children and for grown-ups who love listening too. From the oral storytelling traditions of North India comes a quiet, powerful tale about a family, an ageing grandfather, and a moment that changes everything. As the old man grows slower and more fragile, small inconveniences begin to feel like burdens. A chair is moved. A space is created. And slowly, without anyone quite noticing, distance grows where warmth once lived. But a young boy is watching. And with one simple, unexpected act, he holds up a mirror to the world around him, reminding us that kindness is not something we say, but something we show, every day. A gentle and deeply moving story about empathy, awareness, and the way children often see what adults forget. Perfect for bedtime, quiet reflection, or meaningful family listening. If you’re looking for Indian folktales for children, stories about family values, or tales that stay with you long after they end, this one’s for you. 🌿 Support the podcast and help us share more stories: www.oaktreebooks.in/oaktreestories 🎨 Inspired by the story?
