from FANTI · host Maximum Fun
We're continuing the conversation with part two of our Hallelulujah-ween spectacular! This week, we’re talking Black horror movies with film historian Tananarive Due! She's a professor whose course, called “The Sunken Place: Racism, Survival and the Black Horror Aesthetic” has gained national attention! She teaches on Black Horror and Afrofuturism at UCLA and is an executive producer of Shudder's documentary Horror Noire: A History of Black Horror. She's also worked with Get Out's Jordan Peele on several projects including her work on the annotated screenplay of the film. Tre'vell and Jarrett chat with Professor Due about Black horror tropes, art imitating reality and what she'd like to see next from the Black horror genre. Plus, we'll discuss the real-world and imagined horrors of Get Out, Lovecraft Country and more! You don't want to miss it. But first...Pass the Popcorn Tre'vell and Jarrett have opinions about this year's Halloween candy power rankings. DIS/Honorable MentionsThis week, Jarrett has an honorable mention for a few films. First up is the documentary Totally Under Control about the US government's response (or lack thereof) to COVID-19. You can watch it now on Hulu.
