Halloween is back after almost a decade of being absent from the big screen—the longest hiatus ever in the history of the series. For the third time the series has broken continuity to make this latest film a direct sequel to John Carpenter’s 1978 original cult classic thereby ignoring all previous films. With John Carpenter returning for the first time since Halloween III (which doesn’t really count) this installment is noteworthy because of his blessing, creative influence, along with a fresh new score composed by Carpenter himself. Also, Jamie Lee Curtis is back after 16 years—once again reprising her role as Laurie Strode. Halloween is one of Silver Screen Guide’s most anticipated films of the year and a long expected return to the original form of the series by most fans.
