Halloween Special 2016

Welcome to CINEMATIC SOUND RADIO’s annual Halloween Special. This is one of my favourite shows to produce featuring only music from Halloween themed film, TV and video game scores. This week’s show is a special one as I will be reading for you excerpts from a brand new book called SCORED TO DEATH: CONVERSATIONS WITH SOME OF HORROR’S GREATEST COMPOSERS. In the book, author J. Blake Fichera interviews 14 masters in the horror music genre including director/composer John Carpenter; sound designer/composer Alan Howarth; Italian composers (and members of the band Goblin, known for their scores for Dario Argento films) Claudio Simonetti and Maurizio Guarini; Hollywood composers Christopher Young, Tom Hajdu (of the composing team tomandandy), Charles Bernstein, Jay Chattaway, and Nathan Barr; as well as such other horror notables as Fabio Frizzi, Simon Boswell, Joseph Bishara, and Harry Manfredini. On the program today we are going to hear the music from six of those composers including HOSTEL by Nathan Barr, CUJO by Charles Bernstein, THE CONJURING 2 by Joseph Bishara, MANIAC by Jay Chattaway, THE FOG by John Carpenter and SINISTER by Christopher Young.
