Hamilton House Revisited – 100th Episode GUTGAmazing how it all comes together! Today’s episode is the 2nd Anniversary of Giving up the Ghost Podcast, as well as our 100th Episode. The Hamilton House, thought to be the origin of Spiritualism and Psychical research in 1920s Winnipeg, was our inaugural episode. We were so fascinated by the history we knew that if there was any topic to enter the Podcast Ocean with - this would be that one. Fast forward two years and 100 episodes later - here we are! We decided nothing more appropriate than to cover this subject again since it has been our most downloaded episode to date (around 600). As well, Dr. Hamilton and Hamilton House along with all the family’s research is also the most explored file at the University of Manitoba Archives. We were honoured to interview local and world renowned Writer, Researcher, Urologist and Fortean Chris Rutkowski for this episode. Chris had researched and wrote about Hamilton House as well as had a personal connection in that he was a friend of Margaret Hamilton Bach. In addition, we were over-the moon to be able to speak with and interview Janice Hamilton, Dr. T.G. Hamilton’s granddaughter, who spoke to us from her home in Montreal about the research she has done and has written a book on her family’s genealogy . During our interview with Janice, Jas and Sher stumble onto a topic called ‘Black Market Babies’ in Montreal back in the ‘40s & 50s, as her Husband Harold, who was kind enough to troubleshoot Skype for us, told us of his story, being one of those babies illegally bought.
