Handi-CAPABLE | Victorian Slum House
from HearSay with Cathy Lewis · host WHRO Public Media
The mobi-mat has revolutionized beach access for handicapped visitors in Yorktown. The mat is a plastic "boardwalk" that allows wheelchairs to go all the way to the water's edge. Today, we're talking with the woman who got the initiative rolling. We'll also talk about Camp Grom, designed for wounded veterans, families of the fallen, and adults and children with disabilities or special needs. Later, Victorian Slum House is the PBS equivalent of reality television. The new series follows show participants as they try to survive life in London’s East End tenements as their ancestors did years ago. Could you live the life of the poor in Victorian England? We’re talking with director Emma Frank about the process of bringing the show to life. Join us at 440-2665.
