Hands On Working at Killowen Distillery

from Whiskey Chats · host Laurie O'Dwyer

I spent a couple of days last February 2023, in bitter freezing conditions, above in Killowen Distillery on work experience. Brendan Carty and his distiller Hugh allowed me to get stuck into every aspect of production that week. But on the last day, as we were falling upwards towards the distillery along the frozen mountain lane entrance, Brendan asked if I'd like to run his new micro 100ltr Column Still that day, a well as making the pot still cuts. Well, who could pass on that offer!  I strapped a couple of mics onto myself and Brendan for 4hrs and edited it down to just over an hour, but i think it gives you a good flavour of a day in Killowen Distillery.
