from The People’s Court Podcast · host The People’s Court Podcast

First, after dating for several months, the plaintiff discovered the defendant was seeing someone else. She left him and now claims he’s stiffing her for an expensive phone bill. She is suing him for these bills. The defendant claims they were only ever friends with benefits, and he paid his phone bills in full. Then, the plaintiff, a cop, says his police car was parked in the employee lot at his station while he was on duty when it was damaged by a group of kids throwing rocks over a fence. One of the kids was the defendant’s son. It seemed like she was willing to pay for the damage, but she filed a complaint against the plaintiff for harassment instead. He is suing for the damages to the car. The defendant claims the plaintiff has threatened her with evidence against her son and that if she didn’t pay for the damages, he would arrest her son. Plus, the plaintiff rented a room from the defendant, who refused to return his security deposit after he moved out. He claims he lost out on two jobs because of it and is suing for the amount he paid in security. The defendant claims he signed a lease with the plaintiff agreeing to give three weeks’ notice if he were to move out. He claims the plaintiff packed up in the middle of the night and left, which gives him the right to the deposit. Don’t forget to rate and subscribe so you never miss an episode.
