Happy Birthday Malcolm X

During his lifetime, Malcolm achieved numerous goals by having the attitude to use "any means necessary", unlike MLK who wanted to keep everything peaceful. First off, he helped get the word out that African Americans were getting mistreated by writing his autobiography, The Autobiography of Malcolm X, and doing speeches around the country- even internationally. Because of this, as well as his group the Organization of Afro-American Unity, more blacks wanted equality and some whites started thinking that maybe there needed to be a change. He started out by become one of the most well-known members of the Nation of Islam. Then, after he decided that their beliefs were unjust, he created the Organization of Afro-American Unity and resigned from the NOI. The OAAU has helped black oppression nearly end around the nation, and inspires hope to those being discriminated against because they are black. The main goal for this group, besides ending oppression, is to give African Americans restoration, reorientation, education, economic security, and self-defense. It also contains of ten committees: the Economic Committee, the Publications Committee, the Educational Committee, the Social Committee, the Political Committee, the Youth Committee, the Self-Defense Committee, the Cultural Committee, Membership, and the Staff Committees Fund-raising Legal. Thanks to Malcolm, blacks became heard easier and were eventually given freedom. Because of his effort to achieve his goal, he ended up contributing to the freedom and equality of millions.
