Happy Halloween! A Mysterious Grave Vault Revealed, Freaks at the Holley Inn, Parties in Greenwich & More!

Hubbard. It was located in the Field Point area near the railroad tracks: "One night, several years after Captain Bush had laid out his cemetery and two of his children had been interred there, he saw a light moving in a mysterious way through the grounds. The next night he looked for it, again but saw nothing, as the graves were undisturbed, the fact soon escaped from his mind." The railroad was in the process of expanding the number of tracks, necessitating the removal of the graves. The vault and surrounding graves were scheduled to be transferred to Putnam Cemetery off Parsonage Road in the coming summer. The story gets more interesting -and you'll hear how. Over a century ago, the Holley Inn was the setting of a Halloween party featuring members of its American Impressionist art colony. We'll share details. We've featured a sampling of how Halloween was celebrated in private homes and public places from the late 19th and early 20th centuries. In 1906, the Greenwich Police Department was founded. We're pleased to take our listeners back in time on Crimes and Misdemeanors, a segment of the show chronicling crime and law enforcement.
